STATEMENT OF INTENT TO ADHERE TO THE RESPONSIBLE TOURISM GUIDELINES FOR THE HOSPITALITY SECTOR

I hereby agree to compile and implement a Responsible tourism Management Plan for use in my establishment.

I understand that the areas to be covered are as per the National Responsible Tourism Guidelines for the South African Hospitality Sector. I understand that it is my responsibility, as a manager / owner of a hospitality establishment to comply with, and implement standards that will assist in addressing social, economic and environmental shortcomings. These measures must be measurable and sustainable.

Responsible Tourism Management System

This establishment will endeavour to manage its affairs to as to minimise the impact on the environment and to set targets in line with the objectives of responsible tourism.



Air:

We will: Clean all air filters regularly.
Fit silencers to reduce noise.

Community:

We will: Sell tourism craft work made by staff.
Offer a health clinic for the use of the local community.

Energy Management:

We will: Insulate all hot water pipes.
Monitor all energy useage.

Health Management and Awareness:

We will:
Provide first aid training and facilities for all staff and local people
Make staff and guests aware of ways to prevent malaria.

Procurement:

We will:
Ensure, where possible, local suppliers are utilised.
Use natural and recyclable materials where possible.

Waste and Pollution:

We will:
Sort and separate waste into cans, glass and paper and link with a local recycling scheme Recycle used cooking oil.

Water:

We will: Fit water saving devices.
Recycle water where appropriate.
